Aoife, Mark, CJ and baby Cuan

Aoife and Mark welcomed baby Cuan on Monday the 26th of August at 8:59 am weighing 8lbs and 11oz.

When I came to photograph them, I already met Mark and their older son CJ in the elevator. He was bubbling with excitement and racing down the hospital corridor to see his mom and new brother. In the room was a sense of new beginnings. Another mother waiting for labour to start behind the divider and CJ playing peekaboo in the closet. It was busy, yet calm. And in the middle of it all was baby Cuan, approximately 30 hours old.

Míde, Adam and baby Mabel

Baby Mabel Ann was born at 12:30 am on the 16th of August, weighing 7lbs and 6 oz. Two weeks before her official due date and already teaching her parents, Míde and Adam, their first lesson in parenthood. Be prepared for unexpected changes.

When she thought she was going for a routine check-up for her pregnancy diabetes, Míde ended up finding out that she would be induced. Two days before Mabel would actually make an appearance.

I was allowed to meet them in CUMH the following day, approximately 39 hours after giving birth. Please find the full gallery below:

Kelly and baby Donnacha

Baby Donnacha was born on the 3rd of August at 1:25 am, weighing 8 lbs 11 oz. He was welcomed by mom Kelly, dad Eoin and brother Daithí.

Kelly had a quick labour and couldn’t quite believe it was time to go to the hospital. She arrived around 10 pm and baby was born a few hours later in caul, meaning Kelly’s waters didn’t break during the birth. As a participant of the Domino scheme she and baby were able to go home later in the evening.

The family welcomed me into their house the following day and I was able to capture some of the moments during their first breakfast as a family of four, as well as the midwife coming for a visit.

Roselyn and baby Tadg

Parents Roselyn and James welcomed their second baby on the 22nd of July via c-section at 7:30 pm. Tadg weighed 8lbs and 2 oz.

The family allowed me to visit them the following day and photos were taken less than 24 hours after giving birth. You can see Tadg adjusting to being on this earth and finding comfort while nursing. Mom Roselyn minding her little son while also recovering from the c-section.
